Some rules for avoiding pharming

>> What is Pharming?

Pharming is a new type of online scam that enables the scammer to redirect the victims, without their knowledge, to a spoof website, although they have used the usual URL of their bank website (including their browser favourites).

One of the techniques consists of introducing a virus of the ‘’Trojan horse’’ type, which reconfigures the local parameters of the victim's computer.

As in phishing, the cracker (criminal hacker) uses a spoof website to obtain your confidential information. The risks involved in pharming and phishing are the same.

>> Some rules for foiling pharming attacks ?

The precautions you take to protect yourself from phishing remain valid for pharming.
In addition, you should pay particular attention to the following key points:
1. regularly update your anti-virus;
2. check that your session is secured by https;
3. ensure that the website certificate is valid.
The corollary of this last point is not to accept to be connected to a website if a message from the browser indicates that the certificate is invalid.

The best way to prevent this type of attack is to have an updated anti-virus system.
